Paul makes it clear that salvation by faith in Jesus Christ offends self-righteous pride. We are hard-wired to think we are more acceptable when we are good. This truth speaks to the question,”Why aren’t more people saved?” In response, Eric pointed us to Romans 10:9-13 for the answer. Since Christ has broken down every barrier, everyone who calls on the Lord will be saved. Because of this, if you haven’t called on the Lord, it’s on you to consider your own pride keeping you from calling on the Lord for salvation. However, this also provides good news for doubters, because the invitation is open to call, and God promises to save.

Read Romans 9:30-10:13

What stood out to you from the passage?

If you are a believer, what was happening inside you leading up to you asking the Lord to save you?

If you are not yet a believer in Christ, what would you say is keeping you from asking the Lord to save you?

How does the law point you to Christ?

Is there any facet of your pride that resists resting in salvation by faith in Christ alone?

Pray for each other to trust Christ.
