OUR PASTORAL TEAM
ERIC HUGHES
Lead Pastor
Eric has been a pastor at Redeemer Church since 1997 and has served as the Lead Pastor since 2009. Eric is responsible for preaching and vision and oversees the pastoral team at Redeemer Church. Eric and his wife Marie have lived in Chesapeake for over 30 years and have four adult children. Eric also serves as a Chaplain for Chesapeake Police Department and volunteers serving our community and the CPD. Eric is a voracious reader and in his free time, he enjoys the beach, fishing, surfing, and date nights with Marie.
ALEX BRODINE
Pastor for Care & Counseling
Alex has been on staff as a pastor since May 2012. His responsibilities include oversight of pastoral care and counseling. Alex helps oversee our membership process as well. Alex and his wife Beth have five children and live in Virginia Beach. In his free time, Alex enjoys reading, following soccer & football, going for walks, biking, canoeing, and going to the beach with his family.
STEPHEN SEYBOLD
Pastor for Community & Worship
Stephen has served as a pastor at Redeemer since January 2021. Stephen oversees community groups and music & production. Prior to serving as a pastor at Redeemer, he served as a pastor in Washington. Stephen and his wife Sylvia have five boys and live in Norfolk. In his free time Stephen enjoys spending time with his family, music, coffee, and sports.
GREG DIETRICH
Pastor for Administration
Greg serves as pastor at Redeemer, doing various things—including overseeing the staff, communication, and finances. Greg was born in Saginaw, MI, grew up in Traverse City, MI but has resided for several years in Philadelphia, Northeast Wisconsin, and Chesapeake. Greg is a bi-vocational pastor and owns Grace at Work, a web development agency. Michelle and Greg reside in Great Bridge with their daughter Scarlette. In his free time, you can find Greg taking walks with his family around the neighborhood, spending time with his wife, enjoying his man cave, and cheering for sports teams from Philadelphia.
BARRY HERMAN
Pastor for Prayer
Barry serves as a bi-vocational pastor overseeing our prayer ministry. Barry was born and grew up in Louisville, Kentucky. He graduated from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. After serving in the U.S. Army in Germany, he moved to Virginia Beach in 1987 joining our newly formed church. Barry and his wife Mary Hayes reside in Chesapeake, having 3 adult children and many grandchildren. In his free time Barry enjoys gardening, cooking, reading, cheering on University of Kentucky basketball, and enjoying his recent retirement as a dentist.
JASON LAMB
Pastor for Redeemer Kids
Jason joined the pastoral team as a pastor in 2018 and has been a part of Redeemer Church since 2009. Jason and his wife, Heather, oversee Redeemer Kids, our children’s ministry. Jason is a bi-vocational pastor and works as an engineering manager at Norfolk Naval Shipyard. Jason and Heather have four children and live in Virginia Beach. His family enjoys physical activity and eating meals together and Jason and Heather spend time watching their kids play field hockey and lacrosse.
RICH MORRISON
Pastor for Care
Rich joined the pastoral team as a bi-vocational pastor in 2014 and serves our church with an eye on strategic initiatives. Rich and his wife Tonya have 9 children, 3 in middle and high school, 6 adults, and 4 grandchildren. Rich served in the U.S. Navy for nearly twenty-two years and continues to serve as a Navy civilian. Rich and his family live in Chesapeake, VA. In his free time Rich enjoys a rewarding family life with his wife and children.
CHIP PARKER
Pastor for Care
Chip joined the pastoral team as a bi-vocational pastor in 2014. Chip serves with Alex providing pastoral care to members of Redeemer as well as working with Barry with Redeemer Senior Adults. Chip and his wife Charlotte have two adult children and live in Chesapeake, VA. In his free time Chip enjoys working through the Greek New Testament, is an avid chess player, and cheering on Cleveland sports teams and The Ohio State University Buckeyes.
ERNIE WALTON
Pastor for Hospitality & Guest Integration
Ernie joined the pastoral team as a bi-vocational pastor in 2018. Ernie has been part of Redeemer Church since 2013 and is responsible for hospitality, guest assimilation, and follow-up. Ernie is a bi-vocation pastor and vocationally serves as a dean in the law school at Regent University. Ernie and his wife, Lindsay have two children and live in Chesapeake, VA. In his free time, Ernie loves playing with his kids, watching Philadelphia sports, playing games, and reading books.
CHARLIE SANFORD
Pastor in Training for Student Ministries
Charlie joined the staff of Redeemer in January of 2022 and serves as a pastor in training with an emphasis on student ministries. Charlie oversees Redeemer Middle School, 316 Youth, and Redeemer Young Adult ministry. Charlie and his wife, Olivia have a son and live in Chesapeake. In his free time, he surfs, golfs, plays guitar, and enjoys his library.

RYLAN BOUCHER
Pastoral Assistant
Rylan joined the staff of Redeemer in 2022 and provides administrative support to the Pastor for Student Ministries and helps lead Redeemer Middle School events. In his free time, he enjoys playing music.
MIMI BROWN
Pastoral Assistant
Mimi joined the staff of Redeemer in 2014 and provides administrative support to Alex Brodine, Pastor for Care & Counseling. Mimi has two adult children and lives in Chesapeake. In her free time, she enjoys gardening and building her urban homestead.
MICHELLE DIETRICH
Pastoral Assistant
Michelle joined the staff of Redeemer in 2023 and provides administrative support to Eric Hughes, the Lead Pastor, and Greg Dietrich, the Pastor for Administration. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, drinking good coffee, working in the yard, spending time with friends, thrifting / antiquing, and traveling.
BRENT GABLE
Facilities
Brent joined the staff of Redeemer in 2011 and helps oversee all of the systems related to our facilities and grounds. Brent manages the security, maintenance, and improvements to our building and also oversees the many requirements for the events or our very active church. Brent and his wife have 4 adult children and live in Chesapeake. In his free time Brent enjoys restoring vintage string instruments and building guitars. He is also active in the local music scene and performs at festivals and shows around town.
KATHLEEN SMITH
Director of Finance
Kathleen joined the staff at Redeemer as the director of finance in 2015. Along with managing the finances of the church, Kathleen works very closely with the pastors and our Financial Review Committee in executing the policies and procedures of the church. Kathleen and her husband Bill live in Chesapeake. In her free time she enjoys the beach, walking, and visiting with friends.
MICAH CRUZ
Pastoral Assistant
Micah joined the staff of Redeemer in 2022 and provides administrative support to Charlie Sanford, our Pastor for Student Ministries. In her free time, she enjoys exploring the outdoors, making art, and spending time with her community.
