Discussion Questions for Romans 7:7-25

This Sunday we wrestled with the frustrating, but very common, experience that Paul describes in Romans 7. Why do we do the thing we don’t want to do? As Eric noted, we often find ourselves looking back at situations or experiences saying to ourselves, “I don’t know why I did that.” Every believer can identify with Paul’s angst as we consider the how sinful our sin is. We may find ourselves feeling hopeless but Paul reminds us that our confidence for salvation is not in ourselves or the law but in Christ.

Read Romans 7:7-25

When have you experienced the frustration that Paul is describing, especially in verses 21-24?

When you experience this frustration, do you tend to reach out for help or do you tend to withdraw from others?

When you experience this frustration, do you tend to reach out to the Lord or do you tend to withdraw from the Lord?

How does Paul find hope in verse 25 after his exasperation in verse 24?

Pray for each other, thanking God and asking him to continue to deliver us from this body of death.
